• Useful resources
• There is no course text. See the course material for what you should read. You definitely should read those marked as "required". The rest are useful sources that are not required. But you are strongly encouraged to read them to get a better understanding.
• Some of the readings are available through www.netlibrary.com. You can access the electronic version through the HKU intranet (through HKUPPP, the campus network, or HKUVPN). Please do not check out the ebooks since other students would not be able to read them. You can browse the publications without having to check them out.

Assessment

• One term paper (around 2000 words)
• Bonus points for constructive participation, good questions and comments.
• You can choose between two deadlines - Friday May 7th or June 1st.
• If you choose the later deadline you will receive just a grade without comments.
• If you choose the first deadline, you will receive detailed comments on your paper. However, you need to decide by reading week what you are going to write on. By 9 April, you need to have made an appt to see me to discuss your essay plan. You must send me a first draft of the paper by 27 April. We shall meet to discuss your draft, and you have to revise and finish by May 7th.
• Office hours - 4-5pm every Friday after class. You can email me to arrange appts at some other time.
