Portfolio

The portfolio should be a printed set of notes that records your thoughts about the lectures. Provide a summary of each lecture and include your reaction and analysis. Whether you agree with what has been said in the lecture is of secondary importance. What is important is that you provide reasons to support your opinions. Remember to check for spelling and grammatical errors.

The portfolio should be submitted when you attend the final test at the end of the couse. Do not use a folder. Just staple the pages securely together. If for any reason you miss a lecture, ask your classmates about what was discussed, and write a short analysis of the topic for that week.

Some students have raised further questions about the portfolio, and here is some clarification:

• For each entry, the writing should take the form of an essay. The essay should include a discussion of both the main points of the lecture, and also your reaction and analysis. You can mix the two part together.
• The entry should not be in point form.
• You do not have to discuss all the topics mentioned in the lecture, but you should talk about what you think is the most important point. You can also talk about the part that you disagree most strongly with.
• The entry for each lecture should be around 1 page of A4 single spacing. You can of course write more if you want.

You will fail this course if it is discovered that you copy from other classmates or from any source without acknowledgment. See this page and the HKU web site on plagiarism.
