Existence and Significance of “Non-being” in Our Daily Life
GUIDELINES:
1. The paper should be around 2 pages,
typewritten.
2. Don't try to discuss
everything. Narrow your topic down to a specific point which can be handled in
a short paper like this size.
3. Don't repeat the reading
materials or summarize the lectures.
4. Your paper should have the
overall form of a discussion essay. It discusses (rather than just describes or
reports) some view. It does not just state what you or others believe. It
questions, criticizes, compares, contrasts, evaluates, clarifies. In whatever
you do, give reasons to support your point.
5. Anticipate possible objections
and formulate answers to them.
6. Express yourself as clearly as
possible in a coherent and organized manner. If you have to use or quote
paradoxical expressions, try to explain. Avoid redundancies and overly long and
complex sentences.
7. Avoid plagiarism. When you
cite or paraphrase some sources, acknowledge them and identify the sources very
specifically in footnotes or endnotes.
8. Your paper will be evaluated
on its logical organization, clarity of thought, understanding of the
philosophies involved, strength of your arguments, and the depth of your analysis
and insights.
