Mid-term
- Date: 30 Sept at the end of the lecture. No make-up session if you miss it.
- A list of short questions will be available here on this page one week earlier. You will need to answer a few of them during the test (no choices). These are short questions about the topics / readings from week 1 to 4. For each question, you need to write only one paragraph or two - brief, accurate and precise answers score higher marks than long and irrelevant ones.
- This is a closed-book test, so no printed materials, notes, etc.
List of questions
- According to Tim van Gelder, there are two forms of conceptual analysis. Which are they?
- Explain what Turing means by the imitation test "drawing a fairly sharp line between the physical and the intellectual capacities of a man."
- According to Aydede, what is the main problem with the claim that thinking is done with an image-like system?
- Describe the architecture of a connectionist network. What is the difference between supervised and unsupervised learning?
Two questions will be chosen out of these four and you will need to answer them within ten minutes at the end of the lecture.
