Tutorial exercises

• These exercises will not be graded, but marks will be deducted if you do not hand them in.

Exercise #1

Choose either (a) or (b)

Option (a)

Do some research about global warming. Prepare short answers for these questions:

• List two reasons for thinking that global warming is genuine and is caused by human activities.
• List two major problems that global warming might bring about.
• How is global warming related to food / agriculture? Mention one connection.

After you have had a tutorial on genetically modified food, you should bring your answers to your tutor in your NEXT tutorial. Just very short answers will do.

Option (b)

Do some research about drug abuse in China. Is there any statistics available? What are the main drugs involved? How serious is the drug problem?

• Complete before 1 Nov and hand in to your tutor. Write your answers on one page of A4.

Exercise #2

Write a short summary of your thoughts and impressions after seeing the movie Food Inc. About half a page of A4. Hand in to your tutor or Loletta at the philosophy dept main office before 1 Dec 2011.
