No, this reasoning is fallacious. According to this reasoning, a man who is 77 years old has a life expectancy of zero, and a man who is 78 years old has a life expectancy of minus one year! Remember that an expected value is a sum of all the possible outcomes multiplied by their probabilities. Are there possible outcomes for a baby that are ruled out for a forty-year-old?
