Helmholtz

Herman Ludwig Ferdinand von Helmholtz (1821-1894) was a German scientist who made important contributions in many different fields. With Kelvin and others, he was a founder of the principle of conservation of energy, he worked in hydrodynamics, electrodynamics, meteorological physics. He also wrote on philosophical and aesthetic topics.
