Our guide told us that we had encountered a ‘no.5 hydraulic’ in the river caused by the currents around rocks below the surface. I felt unhappy when I heard some of the students continuing to grumble about him, maybe even in a litigious way, though I had some sympathy with one of them, who had hurt her back.
