!!Clarification
* Food can be ''the object of aesthetic appreciation'' without being an ''art object''.
* Food can function as the ''medium'' of art.
* But can food be a ''genre'' of art?
!!What is art?
X is an object of art =
# The pleasure theory: X is created to bring a certain kind of pleasure.
# The institutional theory: X is recognized by art critics and displayed in a museum.
!!Necessary conditions of art?
* X cannot be transient, ephemeral.
* X must have a message.

!!Issues
There is no doubt that food ingredients can be used to create art. We can carve sculptures with carrots, and draw pictures on cappuccino foam. But can food ''in itself'' be a special form of art? What is art anyway? Is there anything distinctive about how food might function as art?
