The earliest vegetable fabric known to have been woven. Well-preserved linen wrappings were found in the tomb of the Pharaoh Rameses II, who died in 1258 B.C. It is made from flax fibres, from the plant flax or linseed or linum usitatissimum in the family Linaceae.
