YARROW —
The leaves of Achillea millefolium are said to encourage clotting of the blood. In Homer’s Iliad, the soldiers of Achilles treat wounds with it. Hence the name Achillea. Other names for the plant in English are Allheal, Bloodwort, Carpenter’s Grass, Milfoil, Nosebleed plant, Sanguinary, Soldier’s Woundwort, Thousand-leaf.
