The Department has established three labs, which are actively organizing seminars, conferences, and workshops not only for our students but also for the public.
The AI &Humanity-Lab (AIH Lab) https://ai-humanity.net/
conducts research on the ways in which AI interacts with and transforms humanity. Their projects are interdisciplinary with a basis in philosophy.
The Hong Kong Ethics Lab (HKEL) https://hkethicslab.com/events/
is a group of researchers based at the University of Hong Kong focused on contemporary ethical issues with practical impact. Their mission is to drive academic research and public engagement on pressing issues of ethical concern.
The Hong Kong Concepts Lab https://conceptlab-hongkong.net/
is a center based at the University of Hong Kong’s philosophy department the purpose of which is to foster collaborative research in and on:
- Conceptual engineering and its metaphilosophy
- Xphi and the “method of cases”
- Social and political philosophy of language
- Conceptual amelioration in moral and political philosophy
- The role of conceptual engineering and conceptual construction in translating between different philosophical traditions (e.g., between ‘Western’ and ’non-Western’ philosophy)
